The Veterinarians

Dr. Daniel Whalen, DVM

Dr. Dan Whalen and his dog, Montout

Dr. Daniel Whalen is the primary veterinarian here at Winslow Park and is native to the area. He has been in the field of veterinary medicine for 11 years, starting as a veterinary technician in 2002. He received his DVM from Saint George's University in Grenada after attending the University of Vermont where he received a B.A. in Animal Science and a minor in chemistry. Dr. Whalen completed his clinical training at Ohio State University.

Dr. Whalen originally came to us in 2009 when he was employed at Strawberry Hill Animal Hospital and A Cat's Place. His dream of one day running/managing his own practice developed into what is now Winslow Park Animal Hospital. His veterinary interests focus on ophthalmology and gastrointestinal diseases. During his free time, Dr. Whalen enjoys playing hockey and spending time with his dog Montout. He rescued Montout from a dog fighting ring in Ohio and named her after a city in Grenada. Dr. Whalen often travels back to Grenada and loves to travel to different destinations all around the world.

Dr. David Santisi, DVM

Dr. Dave Santisit and his cat, Eli

A Westport native, Dr. David Santisi, has been practicing in the area for almost 20 years. In 1993 he began working at Strawberry Hill Animal Hospital in Norwalk after graduating with his veterinary degree from Cornell University. He is now a co-owner of Strawberry Hill and also co-founded A Cat's Place in 1997 and then Winslow Park Animal Hospital in 2013. Dr. Santisi has spent time continuing his education in eye surgery, managing animal hospitals and feline medicine. With that interest in feline medicine, he helped create the cat specialized facility, A Cat's Place. Dr. Santisi lives with his wife, Sarah, his two sons and daughter, and his cat, Eli. He enjoys playing and watching sports, travelling, and spending time with his friends and family.
